Application Process

Students are strongly encouraged to contact the MARC GatorSTAR program office for guidance prior to applying to the program. When you are ready to apply, follow these four steps:

  1. Complete the online application.
  2. Identify at least two faculty members, graduate teaching assistants, or post-doctoral students who can comment on your potential as a biomedical or behavioral science researcher. These persons must each meet at least one of the following criteria: 1) an instructor of a course you completed in science, psychology, sociology, or engineering; or 2) mentor with whom you have conducted research.
  3. Prepare a resume or CV.
  4. Send the names and contact information for your two recommenders and your resume/CV by email to djulian@ufl.edu.

NOTE: You will be notified by a representative of the MARC GatorSTAR program regarding the outcome of your application. Top applicants will be interviewed, and MARC GatorSTAR Trainee decisions will be announced after final interviews. Successful applicants must complete and sign a Scholarship Agreement and Program Agreement.  Proof of citizenship (copy of a United States birth certificate) or permanent residency (copy of “green card”) are required prior to official acceptance into the program. Official appointments are completed on the NIH website, with the assistance of the MARC GatorSTAR staff.
