Introducing Students to Scientist/Mentors and Scientific Research as a Profession
Pre-MARC students are encouraged to participate as freshmen in the existing, one-credit Science for Life Seminar course. This course was created at UF to introduce first-year students to professors who conduct leading-edge research with support from NIH, NSF, DOE and other major funding agencies. Since its inception in 2006, the seminar course has involved more than 200 faculty members and more than 2,000 students. The Science for Life seminar is listed in the UF undergraduate catalog under Medicine as BCH4905. More information about this course is at the CPET site.
